Has anyone had issues with their electronics after moving into an old home with no grounds? I’ve lived in such a home before and never had an issue but I am preparing to move into a new one and am doing some new research.

My step dad says that the problem with the car is the steering column. I bought a steering column and my step dad proceeded to tell me that I need the electronics with the steering column, this leads up to my question…. what do the electronics of the steering column for my car consist of?
